To fix things
Values – John Allen, LLC:
Will build on a reputation for excellence helping clients solve problems of reliability, product performance and quality.
Will be easy to get along with.
Will keep overhead to a minimum, thus giving flexibility to the business approach.
Will have a narrow technical focus. There will be no mission creep.
Will do the next right thing, right. We will not deviate from these values to take advantage of opportunities beyond the defined business objectives.
Will hire, when appropriate, a director of client services. This person will be responsible for evaluating the performance of every client engagement and checking with clients to see if we are true to our values and principles. The director might not have a technical background, but will have good, solid business sense and great listening skills.
Principles – John Allen, LLC:
Will work effectively and efficiently in conjunction with client teams. Every project summary will become part of a sound knowledge capture system.
Will charge a competitive fee, finish the work and go home.
Will solve technical problems by coaching client teams in action. Any seminars will be short and to the point, not to teach technical tools, but rather to provide a background so that client teams will understand the technical approach. Common principles of engineering and physics will form the foundation of our approach.
Will continually honor quality of life. Consultants will sleep in hotels less than 100 days per year. The business will live within those means. We will encourage non-technical activities that add social value.
Will remain a very small consulting company that has fun. If it is not fun, we will find out why and fix it.
